PREP TIME: 10 Mins
COOKING TIME: 10 Mins
Ingredients
Long beans/Karamani – 1 Cup (Finely Chopped)
Moong dal – ¼ cup cooked
Mustard – 1/2 tea spoon
Urad dal – 1/2 tea spoon
Dry red chilli – 2
Curry Leaves – 1 sprig
Salt – per taste
Procedure
STEP 1: Wash the dal and pressure cook for 1 whistle. (The dal should NOT be mushy)
STEP 2: Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and wait till it splutters. Add urad dal, dry red chilli and curry leaves.
STEP 3: Add the chopped long beans and cook in the oil for 5 minutes.
STEP 4: Add the cooked dal, ¼ cup of water and salt.
STEP 5: Cover the pan and cook for 5 – 7 minutes.
TIP: As this is not a spicy poriyal, it can be served with tamarind rice or any rice that is spicy. The dal and the beans will mellow down the spiciness in the rice and enhance the taste.
